Peace Corps The Gambia is seeking applications from qualified individuals to fill the position of Communications/Gender and Development (GAD) Coordinator.

Duties include:

  • Coordinating with the Country Director to develop a comprehensive and strategic communications strategy with an emphasis on digital and social media
  • Planning, designing, and publishing annual reports and printed components of strategy/plan in coordination with staff
  • Managing social media components of communications strategy/plan in collaboration with Volunteers
  • Working with staff and Volunteers to design, develop, and publish compelling content regarding Volunteer work with partners and communities
  • Contributing to strategic programmatic design, adaptation and delivery of Volunteer training related to gender development activities

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Three years’ experience in gender-related programming and training
  • Experience performing work in a United States or other government agency, international organization or the equivalent
  • Keen sense of cultural awareness for both Gambian and American cultures.
  • Must be very organized, accurate, and efficient and have the ability to prioritize many projects at one time
  • Experience in monitoring, tracking, and implementing multi-sectoral programs
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to work with international and intercultural team, including cross-cultural situations with Americans
  • The ability to obtain a security clearance and a medical clearance
  • Ability to administer international volunteer programs
  • Ability to build coalitions and communication networks
  • The ability to work in the entire Microsoft office Suite, including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Knowledge and experience with various social media platforms: FaceBook, Instagram, etc.
  • A strong working knowledge of current development programs in The Gambia
  • Experience working outside the Kombo area
