9-month Special Fixed Term Contract (with possibility of extension) CONTEXT The European Union and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) have developed the Joint Initiative for Migrant Protection and Reintegration in Africa, which will be implemented in 14 countries, including The Gambia. This initiative, which will be implemented over a 3-year duration, aims to contribute to the strengthening of migration governance and the sustainable reintegration of returning migrants in the Gambia. Under the direct supervision of the Chief of Mission, The Gambia, the successful candidate will contribute to the implementation of the “EUTF-IOM Initiative for Migrant Protection and Reintegration: Gambia.” CORE FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide support to the identification and relationship management of local partners/NGOs to collaborate with on AVRR and project activities.
  • Contribute to collection and provision of necessary information and to the preparation, organization and implementation of project activities to strengthen migration governance and reintegration of returning migrants.
  • Support the implementation of AVRR activities, including logistical, technical and administrative assistance in organizing workshops and meetings, participation in meetings with project partners, government counterparts and relevant stakeholders, minute-taking, etc.
  • Assist in reporting and exchange of information on project and AVRR activities between IOM, the programme’s donors and other stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the design and preparation of training materials and case study exercises and support the preparation of reports on project activities according to IOM and donor formats as required, contribute to and/or prepare weekly progress updates on project activities.
  • Assist in liaison activities with relevant governmental and non-governmental entities, international organizations as well as other relevant stakeholders for effective implementation of project activities and represent IOM, where required, at coordination meetings on return and reintegration with governments, NGOs and other stakeholders in close coordination with the supervisor.
  • Support the facilitation of meetings with relevant regional and national stakeholders on return and reintegration.
  • Assist in tracking project expenditures.
  • Contribute to the implementation of the project’s awareness raising activities.
  • Support the project’s Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) efforts through the use of tracking tools for monitoring the implementation of reintegration activities carried out by the returnees.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned.
  • University degree from an accredited institution in International Relations, Social Science, Law, Humanitarian Affairs or related field with four years professional experience;
  • An equivalent combination of related educational and professional experience.
  • Four years of experience (or two years for candidates holding University Degree) in in the field of migration issues including operational and field experience or related field;
  • Knowledge of social development issues as well as general migration related issues in the country and the region;
  • Solid knowledge of project development, administration and evaluation concepts and procedures;
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain strong working relations with relevant Government counterparts, international organizations, civil society organizations/NGOs, and private sector entities;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of information technology and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, and SharePoint;
  • Experience in supporting all aspects of project management and familiarity with international standards and EU regulations is advantageous, preferably within the United Nations or within the international humanitarian field.
  • English and local language are required.
